BRUSH FIRE WITH EXTENSION TO SHED.

At 1:03 pm Wednesday, the Willington Fire Department #1, under the command of Fire Chief Tyler Millix, responded to a brush fire in proximity to a shed at 120 Willington Hill Road. Upon arrival, firefighters found about 1.5 acres involved with a 15' X 30' storage shed with fire coming from the front door. Firefighters from Willington Hill, Eagleville and Tolland responded to the scene. The fire was under control at 3:00 pm. No one was injured in the fire. Staffordville Fire Department was standing by at Station 13 in the event of another incident.

TOM SMITH WOULD LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE THAT CONTRIBUTED TO THE DANA-FARBER CANCER INSTITUTE  MARATHON CHALLENGE TEAM.

Should you have any interest in tracking Tom as he progresses along the marathon course, you should be able to log on to www.bostonmarathon.org and look for the "Athlete Tracking Network" and enter Tom's bib # which is: 15805.  The race start is 12:00 Noon (Mon. the 16th) and I hope to finish around 4:00 PM.

WILLINGTON FIRE DEPARTMENT #1 WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE  JEREMIAH GILMOUR AND KIM HARRISON FOR THEIR RECENT SCHOLASTIC ACHIEVEMENTS.
 Jeremiah Gilmour was awarded First Place in the VICA Job Skills Demo held at Wilcox Technical School. Jeremiah was featured in Willimantic Chronicle for his achievement.

Kim Harrison attends E.O. Smith High School in Mansfield and received High Honors on her last report card.

SERVICE 213 HAS BEEN DELIVERED BY BACKUS FORD. 
We have taken delivery of the new Service 213, a 2001 Ford F350 pick up. We are currently waiting for the new Whelen Edge Ultra lightbar  and the  radio and siren console to be delivered before the truck is put into service. The truck was sent to Peter Rossi Signs in Stafford for lettering. They did a nice job detailing the truck. Once the truck is finished we will post pictures.

THE NEW EMS RUN FORM LAPTOP AND PRINTER IS NOW IN SERVICE ON RESCUE 513.
Willington Fire Department, Inc. #1 would like to take this opportunity to thank the Hall Foundation for their donation of a new Dell Inspiron 8000 Laptop and wireless Cannon Bubble Jet Printer. The laptop and printer were donated to computerize our EMS run forms. The computer will ensure legibility of all run form copies and allow the Technician to spell check the document prior to signing a legal document.

CONGRATULATIONS TO LT. BRUCE CARLSEN FOR BEING THE NUMBER ONE RESPONDER IN 2000.
It was a tight race for the number one responder slot last year. Only an eight call margin between first and second place. This years honors go to LT. Bruce Carlsen with a total of 218 calls in 2000. The top ten responders for the year 2000 are;
